"My brother Аrejay and I grew up in rural central Pennsylvania on a 20 acre farm in Bethel, 440 Schubert Rd. Our dad was a 3rd shift mechanic, and our mom stayed home, occasionally cleaning houses to make ends meet. We started Halestorm when I was 13 and Arejay was 10; on August 9th, 1997, entering ourselves in a talent show at the Schukill County Fair, performing one original song called 'Love is Power'. We went home with the third place trophy, losing to a tap dancing cowgirl. But it was already too late, we caught the music bug, and decided that day that we were gonna see how far we can take this band. We had no rich uncle in the music business, no savings, no clue how to write songs for the radio, and could barely play our instruments. But we weren't going to wait to be 'ready', or for someone to come along, and tell us what we should do. So we spent the next years performing shows wherever we could: coffee houses; bowling alleys; Friendlys Restaurant for free ice cream; the bars during happy hour, because we were under age. We had a few temporary bandmates... Then in 2003 we met Joe and Josh, and it finally felt like we were a gang of pirates, setting sail for a big adventure. The rest is history. But I still display that talent show trophy, right next to the Grammy we won in 2013... Don't wait to chase your dreams, and don't let anyone tell you your instincts are not correct, or that your joy is invalid! We are living proof that nothing is impossible. And we are one of the few bands of our kind around who did it the hard way, and prevailed. Raw, real, no tracks, no miming, no click. Just four best friends that decide everyday to take the risk. We are fighters, holding up our lighters, chasing off the monsters, and drowning in our sins. We conjure magic, and chase shooting stars; we built a sanctuary for the weary hearts, the weirdos, and the misunderstood. We will not fail as long as we keep climbing up our personal Everest.
