"26 years ago today Arejay and I had our first show. It was just the two of us entering ourselves on the bill of a talent show at the Schuylkill County Fair in Pennsylvania. Thanks to lil bro's enthusiasm and persistence, we decided to name the band Halestorm, and we performed an original song called 'Love is Power' in front of an audience of strangers. To our surprise we walked away with the third place trophy - it is currently sitting next to our Grammy, equally if not more important of a milestone, - losing first and second to a tap dancing cowgirl and a 9 year old singing little orphan. We had no back-up plan, no hook-ups in the biz, no rich family members, and no experience. We would play anywhere they'd let us play, for whoever would listen. We'd get paid in free pizza, dinners, or just an opportunity to perform again. I look back on the trail of chaos that now looks like a Van Gogh painting. It's hard to believe that two kids from rural Pennsylvania, fueled by passion, obsession, and insanity, stuck it out hard enough to... call ourselves legitimate rockstars. Rockstars with the power to inspire, influence, and spread joy across the globe! Even though it took a few years to find our other halves, Joe and Josh."
